Salento it’s not only sea and sun.Salento is thousand-year history, art, culture, tradition!

The tourist that looks for refresh from the summer heat, diving into the crystalline water of Otranto, often neglects to know most of the interesting places of Lecce province, each one of theme deserves a careful visit.   With the purpose of letting you discover an unknown salento, we decided to invite you to take part of an exclusive tour of three nights, that can be extended in six nights. The low hotel rates, the quiet and the fascination of the medieval district during fall and winter, not crowded anymore by the summer masses, the visits to the art places whit expert guides, the small and limited number of participants to each tour (from 6 to 20 people), the entrance in the most important historical private residences, closed to the public, the lunches and dinners taking place in carefully selected places, in order to taste the genuine flavor of the salento cuisine: these are the most important reasons why to join in our invitation. 

FIRST DAY
Arrival scheduled at Brindisi airport, pick up and transfer to Otranto at Hotel Palazzo Papaleo.  Check in and accomodation. Dinner with tasting of delicious courses of the cookery tradition of Salento.

SECOND DAY
Reveille and breakfast in Hotel. Visit of Otranto and its old centre:Cathedral, crypt, Aragonese castle, Byzantine church of S. Pietro walk through terraces. Visit of a botanical garden, with his collection of “succulent plants”  (third in Europe). Here will be served a light lunch. In the afternoon transfer to Castro to visit the “Zinzulusa” cave, or, as an alternative, the old centre. Return to Hotel and dinner.

THIRD DAY
Reveille and breakfast in Hotel. Departure to Lecce. Visit of the old town: from Porta Napoli,  PAISIELLO THEATRE - VII century’s buildings in Via Palmieri - S. irene Church  S. Oronzo, square, roman amphitheatre and theatre - S. Croce basilica - Buildings in Via Umberto I and in Via IDOMENEO - “Arco di PRATO” - GESU’s Church and Convent, “Palazzo CARAFA”. Light lunch in a noble building of the old town, than visit of S. Matteo church, - S. CHIARA church - “RETTORATO” (Carmelitan Convent) San FRANCESCO DELLA SCARPA church (often here take place interesting exhibition). Return to Hotel and dinner.

FOURTH DAY
Reveille and breakfast in Hotel. Departure to GALATINA to visit SANTA CATERINA D’ALESSANDRIA, the Basilica built by Raimondello DEL BALZO ORSINI,  Prince of TARANTO. The tour continues with the visit of GALLIPOLI  with its CATHEDRAL, the CIVIC MUSEUM (very particular because comes from a rich private collection), an ancient underground oil mill  the VIIth century’s buildings, some fraternal order and the VERDI theatre. Light lunch in a VII century’s manor farm. Transfer, via Lecce, to the Brindisi airport, with a stop along the way to the Santa Maria di Cerrate abbey.  (who booked the seven days tour will stop in Lecce for the visit of the Salento crafts exhibition and a free tour of the town, with return to Oranto after three hours). Dinner in Hotel.

FIFTH DAY
Reveille and breakfast in Hotel. Departure to SOLETO. Visit of the spire erected by Raimondello del BALZO ORSINI, the PURGATORIO church, with a rich engraved portal, the VII century’s Santo STEFANO church almost totally painted a fresco in the inside; transfer to CORIGLIANO D’OTRANTO to visit (from the outside) the castle, to MELPIGNANO to admire the V century’s square and the AGOSTINIANI convent. Transfer to STERNATIA for a light lunch in a VII century’s building. Return to Hotel and dinner.

SIXTH DAY
Reveille and breakfast in Hotel. Visit of the ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREA of VASTE - Museum of the MESSAPIC FARMER CULTURE - Santi STEFANI crypt.  In MURO LECCESE,  Museum of Borgo Terra  in the Palazzo del Principe. In CARPIGNANO SALENTINO guided visit of Santa Marina e Cristina church. Transfer to Lecce for a light lunch in a IV century’s tower. In the afternoon visit of the OLIVETANI Convent, central office of the University of PROTECTION OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE. Return to hotel and dinner.

SEVENTH DAY
In the morning, after breakfast, transfer from the hotel to Squinzano, for the visit of the Santa Maria di Cerrate abbey, with the Museum of the Farmer   culture. The tour continues to Ostuni - the white town - visit of the Cathedral and the typical little streets of the old town. Light lunch in an ancient castle in San Vito dei Normanni and transfer to the airport.

Price of the tour:
- 3 nights Euro 1.038,00 per person
- 6 nights Euro 1.992,00 per person 

Minimal number of participant: 6 people (max 20) Free tour for who book for a group of at least 16 people
